For the Q’ero Nation, the Qhapaq Qolla, Wayri Qhunchu, and the Ukukus are among the most sacred expressions of the pilgrimage to Taytacha Lord of Qoyllurit’i and Apu Sinakara. More than dances, they are paths of prayer, devotion, and sacred service that keep alive the relationship between the Apus, Pachamama, the stars, the ancestors, and the sacred forces that watch over these mountains.

The Qhapaq Qolla Dance represents the ancient shepherds and traders of the high Andes. It symbolizes abundance, reciprocity, resilience, and the spirit of service that unites communities, territories, and generations.

The Wayri Qhunchu Dance expresses the ancestral connection between the Andes and the sacred Amazon rainforest, evoking the life force of nature, spiritual protection, and the unity of Indigenous peoples.

The Ukukus, guardians of the Apu and protectors of the pilgrimage, embody discipline, sacrifice, and a profound connection with the spiritual forces of the mountains, serving as bridges between the visible and invisible worlds.

Together, these sacred traditions form a living prayer that continues to illuminate the spiritual path of the Andes.
